Description:
Berkeley Little League Plans âMake a Difference Day 2008"
The Friends of Berkeley Little League will be teaming up with the community on October 25th, 2008 at our Moorage Ave. Baseball Complex. Our goal is to involve the community in an effort to promote fun and recreation for the families of our area. âMake a Difference Day is a national, annual day of volunteerism created by USA Weekend Magazine. It is scheduled for the fourth Saturday in October. This year, that day falls on October 25th. The FOBLLs goals are the same as MDDs. That is, to help establish a sense of community spirit and caring for others; to foster volunteerism at all ages; and to demonstrate the impact people can have when they unite for a common cause.
In addition to several beautification projects, we will be planting trees, perennial plants, grass seed, and hundreds of bulbs around the complex. Field maintenance activities will available. A tour of the construction of our new of our new all-weather baseball facility and community center will provide a sneak peak of a great new township facility. Local Boy Scout troops will be on hand to help clean-up surrounding areas as well as to work on an Eagle Scout project. Local Girl Scout troops will be on hand to provide games, activities and entertainment to our youngest volunteers after the planting. Some of these activities will be face-painting, nail art, tattoos and relays.
All are invited and welcome to participate in our day of community service and fun. Our event runs from 9 am to 2 pm. Hot Dogs and refreshments will be free for all our volunteers! Lunch will start at 12 noon. Our league will provide community service letters as needed. Please join us for this fun, 1st annual Berkeley community event. You'll get an opportunity to see all that Berkeley Little League has to offer!
